PROGRAM:
- Note: We will be in a different room this time — the doors to the left of the room we’re usually in. Look for the signage!
PROGRAM: We have all heard the famous Miranda Rights. But how did they come to be? Join us in welcoming Timothy Moore, recently retired after nearly 30 years as a Phoenix Police Detective, and author Clark Lohr, who collaborated on the book Mirandized Nation. Moore and Lohr will detail how the book was researched and written, and offer the actual account of the Phoenix Police Department’s investigation and the activities of suspect Ernesto Miranda. This walk through history begins in 1963, and includes the U.S. Supreme Court decision made in 1966, and the murder of Ernesto Miranda in 1976. We’ll have a delicious lunch, and a fun book drawing.
In our afternoon session, we’ll walk through a mock crime scene and determine what crimes occurred, which is the best evidence that leads to a suspect and what the motivation was for these crimes. Detective Moore will show how the police process a crime scene and then explain how these procedures translate into a chapter for crime scene for writers.
RSVP by 9:30 am, Wednesday, October 5th to save your place. Pay at the door. RSVP through Meetup or by emailing amwmembershipchair@gmail.com.
See you there!
